ESSENTIAL TORSO TECHNIQUES 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: None
Bring: two sheets, a blanket or beach towel, a small blanket or
chest drape, two pillows and pillowcases, oil or lotion.
Myomassology goes beyond the familiar back rub. Sometimes treating the whole body means pushing the boundaries of comfort. This workshop covers the areas that many therapists and clients are reluctant to acknowledge: the chest, abdomen, and buttocks. Doubt and unclear boundaries can often obscure the importance of working on these specific areas. Overlooking their therapeutic significance is a mistake you can't afford to make.
This class will help students become more comfortable with giving and receiving full body massage, and the corresponding appropriate draping protocols in the supine (facing up) and prone (facing down) positions. The techniques taught are meant to enhance massage sessions. These skills are useful tools for improving overall health, attitude, and self awareness. These applications also help with specific conditions such as headaches, lack of energy, back pain, and the proverbial pain in the butt. Students will walk away with the knowledge and experience to treat these areas with care, respect, and confidence.
Because of the sensitivity of the subject matter studied in this class, we need to be extra careful with boundaries and professionalism. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing appropriate for a massage professional.
FLOWING BODYWORK 8 Hours
Instructor: Randy Fillion, NCTMB, C.T.M.
Prerequisite: minimum 12 hands-on classes
Bring: 2 flat sheets and a towel
Flowing Bodywork is a class about bringing a whole person concept into your massage sessions. Rather than working on "this part" or "that part," a flowing style will enable you to share a sense of connection with your clients and allow them to know the same connection within themselves. You will learn techniques to heighten the sensitivity in your hands, to improve and expand your intuitive knowing, and attune to your client's needs. Specific exercises will be given for grounding and conserving your energy and focusing your intentions. Break out of a routine and go with the flow!

Many people are surprised to discover that a one hour foot reflexology session can actually be as beneficial as a full body massage. This modality of the healing arts is an extremely effective way to provide touch in an easily accessible and non-threatening way.
In this class, the students learn how reflexology of the feet can ease aches and pains, help prevent illnesses and maintain health in the whole body. Massage, acupressure points, self help exercises, and applications, as well as alternative reflexology techniques are included.
HANDS ON HANDS 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: none
Bring: sheet, hand towel and lotion, markers or coloring pencils
Our hands are constantly at work and taken for granted. They are our reliable tools, acting as daily workhorses and powerful instruments of healing. Hands on Hands explores the proper treatment of our hands. In this workshop we cover basic hand reflexology, the correlation between specific reflexes of the hands to organs and parts of the whole body.
Students will also learn massage techniques for the upper limbs, self-help applications, stretches and exercises, tips on caring for the hands and how to use them properly to prevent strain and injury.
It's essential for everyone to learn to preserve hand function and health, and this class provides the skills to do so and to benefit others as well.

This course teaches the use of both hot and cold stones combined with various bodywork techniques. Designed to benefit the client as well as the practitioner, therapists find that the stones and their temperatures do much of the work for them. This course teaches about the different types of stones used, proper care for your stones, and contraindications for stone therapy. You will learn a one hour stone therapy treatment, and how to incorporate the stones with your own massage techniques.
INFANT MASSAGE 8 Hours
Instructor: Renee Gauthier, L.M.T., C.C.E.

INTRODUCTION TO THE CRANIAL SYSTEM 16 Hours
Instructor: Jennifer Pillow-White,
NCTM, M.S.
Prerequisite: 12 hands-on classes or previous training
Using pressure no greater than the weight of a nickel, a CranioSacral Therapist can treat a wide range of medical problems, from migraine headaches to spastic cerebral palsy. Widely acclaimed for its ability to bolster the body's resistance to disease and its effectiveness on pain and dysfunction, CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle but powerful type of work that focuses on the movement of the fluids around the brain and spinal cord. Based on the work and teachings of Dr. John Upledger, D.O., these techniques are designed to release bony and fascial restrictions in the body that are caused by physical, emotional, or mental trauma. This class is designed to prepare students to take the CranioSacral Therapy 1 course offered by The Upledger Institute. It will introduce students to concepts behind CranioSacral Therapy, and the anatomy and physiology of the Cranial System. Students will have the opportunity to assess the CranioSacral rhythm and learn selected techniques for treating the adult client.
KAHI LOA 8 Hours
Instructor: Lynne Volker, CM, APP
Prerequisite: 12 hands-on classes or previous training
Bring: a sheet and wear loose fitting clothing
Kahi Loa is the traditional bodywork and healing art of the Kahili family of Kauai, Hawaii. Rich in symbolism and metaphysics, Kahi Loa provides the practitioner with a philosophy on illness, health, and life. It uses elemental energies to inspire specific strokes, and focuses on the body's largest organ: the skin, to promote the free flow of energy throughout the body. Skin massage of this type also promotes deep relaxation, the elimination of waste, and releases endorphins, the body's natural "feel good" chemicals. Students will learn about the philosophy behind this ancient healing system, and the seven basic strokes of this work. We will also practice a Kahi Loa session along with many variations to tailor its use, and discuss how the practitioner can prepare for a more effective session..

Some of the benefits of lymphatic drainage are pain relief, decreased edema, increased ability to heal and deep relaxation. The class will include anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, indications and contraindications to lymphatic drainage, lymphatic drainage techniques, and a general protocol for lymphatic drainage for the whole body.
INTRODUCTION TO MYOFASCIAL RELEASE 16 Hours
Instructor: Teresa Stayer, P.T.
Minimum 12 hands-on classes or previous training
Bring: sheet and towel, wear 2 piece bathing suit or sport bra with
back hook and shorts
Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web from head to foot. Scarring, poor posture, inflammatory processes and trauma can change the integrity of the fascia by producing excessive pressure on pain sensitive structures (i.e. nerves, blood vessels, muscles etc.). Since many standardized tests such as x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans and EMG, do not show fascial restrictions, many clients suffering from pain and/or loss of motion go undiagnosed. Myofascial Release has been used to address carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, menstrual discomfort, and infertility. This introductory course is designed to be an exciting hands-on experience providing a logical/intuitive approach for the evaluation and treatment of the entire body.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE II 16 Hours
Instructor: Teresa Stayer, P.T.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Myofascial Release
Bring: sheet and towel, wear 2 piece bathing suit or sport bra with
back hook and shorts
This class offers additional techniques to release fascia in the cervical thoracic, lumbar pelvic, and cranial regions as well as a specific pediatric approach. Myofascial Release Part II focuses on sensitive areas of the neck, face, and chest, helping alleviate sinus problems, chronic headaches, and promoting easy breathing. It will also expand upon the methods covered in the introductory course for eliminating pain and restoring function to the muscles and systems of the body. The abilities gained in the introductory course will be expanded upon to help you improve your logical/intuitive abilities and confidence.
ORTHOPEDIC MASSAGE AND ASSESSMENT 16 Hours

Students will learn to use assessment skills to identify common postural distortions such as head forward posture, upper/lower crossed syndrome, and pelvic tilt to name a few. Students will increase their understanding of postural and phasic muscles and their effect on posture. They will learn to match the physiology of tissue injury with the physiological effects of treatment. Students will learn to adapt treatment to the individual client, and develop an understanding of rehabilitation protocol to apply effective techniques. Learn how to incorporate massage techniques, stretching techniques and strengthening techniques into your massage treatments.

Bring: two sheets, a pillowcase, a towel, oil and/or lotion, and
anything else you need. Wear clothes suitable for working in clinic.
Becoming a successful Myomassologist takes more than excellent technique, a thorough knowledge of anatomy, and studying various hands-on modalities. Polishing is a class for people who have mastered the basics and would like to refine their applications. Students will have an opportunity to perform, receive, and critique massage in collaboration with other experienced students. The class covers the fine-tuning and details of a professional massage experience including responsibility, common client complaints, tailoring your work, focus, timing, proper beginning, continuity, and closure.
This workshop is highly recommended for students who are open to critique, and are interested in developing confidence, poise, and awareness. It prepares the participant for professional practice. The task of polishing our skills is an ongoing lifelong process, never really finished.
POSITIONAL RELEASE 8 Hours
Instructor: Don Carpenter, D.C.
Prerequisite: 12 hands-on classes or prior training
Positional Release is a technique used when a tender point is found. This tenderness may be decreased or even eliminated by either lengthening or shortening the involved muscle. It is believed that changing the muscle's length influences (re-sets) the involved proprioceptors and that when the proprioceptors are sending correct information to the central nervous system, the point is no longer tender.
This is a hands on class. Due to the positional changes involved, it is suggested that students wear loose comfortable clothing. Time will be spent explaining physiology, demonstrating the technique and practicing. It will be helpful for the students to have a working knowledge of trigger points and muscular anatomy - particularly the muscles action and antagonists.
PRE-NATAL MASSAGE 16 Hours
Instructor: Renee Gauthier, L.M.T., C.C.E.
Prerequisite: 12 hands-on classes
Bring: sheet, 2 large bath towels, 3 pillows, unscented oil
This class will incorporate discussion of the physiological and emotional components of a woman's pregnancy, growth of the child; and hands-on practice of massage techniques for expecting mothers. The lecture portion of this class covers development of the fetus and common symptoms and discomforts during the 3 trimesters of pregnancy. Suggestions for natural relief of pains and discomforts (nausea, backache, sore feet) include helpful herbs and essential oils. The importance of proper nutrition is emphasized.
Exercises to prepare for labor and suggestions to make Mom comfortable during pregnancy are covered. A birth film is shown. Hands-on learning will include step by step massage techniques and positioning for pregnant women. Acupressure and reflexology points are explained.
SIDE-LYING MASSAGE 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: none
Side-lying position accommodates all ages, shapes, and sizes. Besides the obvious advantages for pregnant women, side-lying massage is often necessary or preferred due to age considerations, disabilities, or for anyone uncomfortable in the prone and supine positions. Some applications are most effective when done on a side-lying client, and several actually require this approach. This class will give you the confidence to use this safe and nurturing position. It provides a complete protocol for side position that covers the full body and offers techniques that are especially useful for babies, children, pregnant women, the elderly, claustrophobics, and overweight people. People with neck and shoulder problems, heart conditions, pacemakers, sensitive breasts or abdomen, or recent surgery also need to lie on their sides. Side-lying massage allows the therapist access to the entire shoulder area front and back, as well as the hip and lower back.

These three techniques cover a range of benefits from exfoliating to conditioning the skin, and relaxing or invigorating the recipient. Students will have a chance to practice and experience these treatments on their arms in class, and will receive body treatment supplies for home practice. The class will also cover the history of spas, types of spas, spa industry trends, and spa management opportunities that are widely available to Myomassologists. STRETCHING 8 Hours
Instructor: Michael Rice, NCTMB, C.T.M.
Prerequisite: knowledge of muscle names and locations helpful
Bring: wear loose, comfortable clothing
Most people don't dedicate much time to stretching. Most people who do stretch do it wrong. The bouncing and pulling actions associated with most common stretching routines cause the muscles to recoil and contract defensively. There's a better way. Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a tool for improving athletic performance and unlocking the body's ability to heal. You can use these techniques on yourself or your clients, on the floor or on the table. AIS is the best way to achieve a quick, complete, and isolated stretch, relaxing the body and offering profound therapeutic possibilities. AIS is essential for those with a history of back and neck problems, pelvic distortions, sciatica, carpal tunnel, worksite stress etc. Athletes and their therapists will find that AIS offers the optimal stretching method, allowing the body to prevent injuries and maximize performance, power, and agility while actually improving muscle tone and strength. You will need to obtain a copy of the book, Active Isolated Stretching by Aaron Mattes, for use in class and your personal use. The book contains step-by-step instructions and color pictures for each stretch we will do in class.
ADDRESSING PLANTAR FASCIITIS 4 Hours

TOUCH FOR HEALTH 16 Hours
Instructor: Debra Welch
Prerequisite: none
Living in a culture with a pill for everything but few answers can be frustrating, costly, and ultimately disappointing. There are practical tools for better health, enabling people to reclaim mastery over their bodies and minds. Touch for Health is one such tool, synthesizing chiropractic, alternative health care, and Eastern healing methods to restore natural energies and unlock the body's healing ability. It uses acupressure, touch, and massage to improve muscle balance for better posture, and to reduce physical and mental pain and tension. The methods this class teaches are simple to learn and use: applied kinesiology (muscle testing) provides a diagnostic tool, giving clues as to where an imbalance or muscle weakness is located. With Touch for Health, we are able to repair or reverse the problem by restoring energy to the muscle, affecting related organs and systems, and allowing hormonal production and waste disposal to normalize. The result is a more chemically and psychologically balanced, healthier person.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY 16 Hours
Instructor: Rob Kelly, NCTMB
Prerequisite: 12 hands-on classes or previous training
Bring: linens and a pillow, sports bra and shorts or light weight,
loose fitting clothing

SHIATSU I 16 Hours
Instructor: Larissa Cisaruk, NCTMB, C.T.M., R.S.Pn., C.S.P.
Prerequisite: none
Bring: mat or thick quilt, a blanket, and a pillow
Shiatsu is a distinctive bodywork that focuses on energy movement. Recipients of Shiatsu say they feel "relaxed yet energized" because this modality relaxes the body and balances energy, releasing any blockages to promote the free flow of Chi (life force, energy). This discipline is traditionally performed on a mat on the floor rather than on a table. The client stays fully clothed.
In Shiatsu we use the palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, forearms, knees, and feet to apply therapeutic compressions, dynamic rotations and stretches. This treatment offers a host of benefits, from toning the skin and increasing range of motion, to improving body awareness.
Students receive a complete introduction to the basic applications and philosophy of Shiatsu, and learn a complete flow/form. FENG SHUI 8 Hours
Instructor: Christina Evans
Prerequisite: none
This class is not about good luck charms or hanging wind chimes in every doorway. It's not about forcing your rooms into pre-fabricated patterns that will somehow help you win the lottery. An ancient Chinese system, Feng Shui is a tool for finding the optimal conditions for balance and harmony in the home, office, and landscape. There will be colored slides projected onto class members showing how an individual's aura relates to color.
SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT 8 Hours
Instructor: Laurie Pappas, PhD
Prerequisite: none
This course has been a life-changing and transformational experience for many people. Based on philosophy from A Course in Miracles and Attitudinal Healing, this class teaches the keys to "inner peace" and "happiness," including instruction in how to help others achieve the same. Focus is on correcting misperceptions in order to heal the mind of guilt, fear, pain, and loss. By changing belief systems, you could find that this has a profound impact on your life and your work.
The terms "spirituality," "religion," "metaphysics," and "mysticism," are defined, clarified and discussed for the purpose of helping you make knowledgeable choices and decisions in your life while helping others do the same. As you grow spiritually, you will be more effective as a massage practitioner because of your ability to extend yourself to your clients, and because many of your massage clients will be seeking a greater understanding of themselves and their spiritual nature.
Of great significance is this course's ability to supply you with valuable spiritual and mental tools for releasing negative blocks to compassion, empathy, and love for all of your massage clients, no matter what cultural, ethnic, or religious background they possess. This holds true for your personal friends, family, and co-workers as well. This course of study will instill a greater sense of mastery and empowerment over any challenging life situations.

CRYSTAL HEALING 4 Hours
Instructor: Sue Burton Hidalgo
Prerequisite: none
Civilizations across the world, from ancient Egyptian to Native American cultures, have used stones and crystals in spiritual rituals and for their healing powers. Although no one knows the exact science behind the phenomenon, the earth's minerals show an inexplicable capacity to alter and enhance response in the human body. This workshop will explore the potential of using stones to heal. We will experiment with flow patterns in the human energy field using crystal layouts, and discuss basic patterns for using stones to compliment the energy centers of the body. This class is perfect for anyone fascinated with the beauty and energy locked within stones and crystals, and can add new dimensions to traditional massage.
GUIDED IMAGERY 4 Hours
Instructor: Sue Burton Hidalgo
Prerequisite: none
Guided Imagery is a useful technique in the healing process. Numerous medically based studies have proven its effectiveness. A myomassologist who can offer guided imagery along with massage, possesses a skill that enhances their ability to help their clients. This class will provide students with a variety of dialogues they can use during massage to assist a client's relaxation and healing process.
Imagery is a tool that utilizes the power of one's mind to achieve desired physical and emotional results. It can stimulate all of our senses - sight, sound, smell, taste and feeling. When we remember or anticipate an event, we do so with our whole body. These thoughts can cause our face to flush, our pulse to quicken, and our hormones to energize. What the mind/body believes to be true creates physiological responses which help to encourage healing.
HERBOLOGY 16 Hours

The Earth's herbal remedies for better health have been time-tested over thousands of years. Use of herbal tonics to treat various injuries, illnesses, and diseases, is found throughout the history of mankind. Herbology, the study of using herbs as traditional medicinal remedies, is a class for those who want to reclaim their health without relying on synthetic and engineered pharmaceuticals. Students will learn plant-derived remedies for many specific complaints, from managing infection to regulating hormones. We also discuss how to use herbs for general health and maintenance, from improving vision to increasing energy.
HOLISTIC CARE OF CHILDREN 4 Hours
Instructor: Harsha Jayatilake, M.D., FAAFP, DABHM
Prerequisite: none
Over 60% of adults are seeking Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM). Current studies on the use of CAM show that up to 70% of children are benefiting from these modalities. In particular, parents of children with chronic illness are combining both conventional medical care and CAM modalities. In other words, they are seeking care that is holistic. This care addresses the Body, Mind and Spirit of the child in the context of their family. Practitioners taking care of children need to use a holistic approach.
This elective will go over how these modalities are integrated. An overview of specific CAM modalities and their role in pediatrics will be presented. Current trends on the use of CAM in children will be covered. Also, specific conditions and benefits of using holistic care in children will be discussed.
MIND/BODY MEDICINE 8 Hours
Instructor: Harsha Jayatilake, M.D., FAAFP, DABHM
Prerequisite: none
In recent years, western medicine has begun to wake up to a concept that Myomassologists have always known: We must treat the complete body and mind along with the symptoms of an illness. Complementary and alternative medicine is gaining popularity as science, medicine, and spirituality begin to come together to share tools for healing. This class will detail the mind/body connection so vital to the process of caring for the entire person, and how that connection can be used to heal the body. Students will learn the ways that body, mind, and spirit work together toward self-healing, and how the thoughts, feelings, and words we choose every day can affect our bodies and immune systems. Emotions can and do affect our health, and an illness can be an opportunity to learn. We will emphasize the roles that the outer world and our overall attitude play in self-healing and inner peace. Mind/Body Medicine examines western medicine in relation to its eastern counterpart, and how alternative techniques, ideas, and treatments are useful in conjunction with traditional care to put individuals back in control of their own healing. We will also focus on the role that a Myomassologist can play in mind/body cooperative healing, and how often allowing an individual to really talk is the most potent medicine we can offer them. This look at the power of treating a complete individual will encourage you to challenge and expand your thoughts and attitudes on health, healthcare, and the relationship between the mind and body.
YOGA FOR THERAPISTS 16 Hours
Instructor: Michael Rice, NCTMB, C.T.M.
Prerequisite: none
Bring: wear loose, comfortable clothes
The word yoga is Sanskrit for union--the union of the body and the mind. It teaches us to bring all aspects of ourselves and our lives into balance and harmony. Modern culture is more apt to revere the mind at the expense of the body, although they are designed to be equal partners. The result of this imbalance are stress-related symptoms that afflict us. Yoga helps us become more healthy and whole as the body responds to the mind's suggestions, and the mind is alert to the feelings and needs of the body. This class will focus on the specific needs of massage therapists: the physical stresses on our body, the emotional impact of being givers and the need to feel rejuvenated while we work. Learn postures and techniques that can relieve stress and give you energy in your daily life or between clients.
Energy Work
Energy Work Classes
ALIGNING AND CLEARING THE CHAKRAS 4 Hours
Instructor: Sue Burton Hidalgo
Prerequisite: none
The chakras are the seven centers of energy in the astral body. The word chakra means "wheel" in Sanskrit. It can be helpful to visualize a vortex where energy accumulates as it flows throughout the human form. The seven chakras correspond to specific endocrine glands, body functions, conscious and unconscious thoughts, colors, elements, and much more. This course is an excellent introduction to energy work for those having trouble "feeling" energy and for those just looking to expand their knowledge. Aligning and Clearing the Chakras teaches the basics of the human energy field. Students will learn hands-on and meditation techniques to align the chakras and affect the layers of the aura. These methods can be used for personal growth or to empower others.
POLARITY I 16 Hours
Instructor: Karen Kerns, RPP
Prerequisite: none
Polarity therapy is an energy balancing system which employs the currents of life force (energy). It was developed by Dr. Randolf Stone D.O., D.C., N.P. and drawn from Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine. The life force is the circulating energy field that surrounds and penetrates the body and all living things. This work combines gentle, penetrating body touch with other healthful practices to balance the energies of the body, mind and spirit. It is based on a premise that disease is created when there is a physical, mental or spiritual block to the free flow of energy in the body. This block causes stress and the energy moves around instead of through the block. Polarity Therapy allows energy to re-enter that blocked area so that the body naturally realigns to its rhythmic flow of health. The life force is directed along natural pathways so that blocks are opened and healing and relaxation begins.
Polarity recharges the life force of a person. When this balance is present, the nerves relax. Nerves control organs and muscles. It works on the whole body. Once the body relaxes, the emotions start releasing. Energy does not distinguish between physical and emotional pain, both of which are expressions of blocked energy.
Polarity I is the study, application and utilization of techniques to balance the primary and secondary energies of humans. You will learn to feel, understand and direct energy patterns in the body. Specific dietary, exercise and meditation practices will be discussed to help hold the healing balance in place. Also discussed, will be the importance of the presence of the practitioner as a vital aspect of this work.
POLARITY II 16 Hours
Instructor: Karen Kerns, RPP
Prerequisite: Polarity I
In Polarity II, you will learn more techniques for balancing the chakras. Each chakra will be explored to better explain the spiritual, emotional, dietary and exercise components that influence it. Students will learn how to keep their own energy separate from their clients', and how to remain grounded and supported while they work. The class will focus on knowing how to remain neutral and non-judgmental during the client's growth process. You will be encouraged to feel what it is like to be unattached to a particular outcome and remain centered.
REIKI I 12 Hours
Instructor: Sue Burton Hidalgo
Prerequisite: none
Envision a universe made of pure energy: energy that can be directed and redirected around and through the body to heal and restore. The philosophies behind Reiki hold that we live in exactly such a state. Reiki is the art of channeling this universal energy. One of the most popular and versatile forms of energy work, Reiki is easy to learn but difficult to master. First Degree Reiki is the basic introduction. It includes "tunings," energy activating sessions which enable the student to channel Reiki energy to others. The class also covers simple lessons in physiology, a demonstration of a complete whole body treatment, and a detailed description of hand positions to use on oneself and others. There is considerable hands-on practice in giving and receiving Reiki at this level.
REIKI II 12 Hours
Instructor: Sue Burton Hidalgo
Prerequisite: Reiki I
The 2nd Degree training includes two more tunings. Reiki II goes beyond level I to increase your attunement to the flow of Reiki. Level II teaches three symbols to increase Ki flow to self & clients, work on thought patterns/habits, and time-line or absentee work. At this level, the student can give a treatment in about half the time it takes on the first level.
REIKI III 8 Hours
Instructor: Sue Burton Hidalgo
Prerequisite: Reiki I & II
Reiki III furthers the work of levels I & II, with a strong emphasis on increasing the connection to powerful flows from the upper levels of the HEF (human energy field). Modern physics show us that matter and energy are interchangeable; this course addresses how to bring energy into matter. Attunements and techniques cause energy to run from the divine field of the HEF to the physical field. We will learn these symbols and techniques: Kundalini/chakras symbol, Inner Fire symbol & self-energizer breathwork, Sui Ching purification, Microcosmic Orbit, Hu Yin & Kidney Breathwork, the Daikomyo symbol and its application in a total body session for self or client.
THERAPEUTIC TOUCH 8 Hours
Instructor: Elaine Grohman, CHTP, HTP, APP
Prerequisite: none
The human impulse to reach out to the sick is fundamental. Whether it's to relieve a headache, soothe a crying baby, or ease the tension brought on by stress, we naturally react to disease with the desire to touch. Therapeutic Touch can develop your ability to use your hands as instruments of help and healing. It is a conscious, directed energy exchange that stimulates recuperative powers in a sick body.
A modern interpretation of ancient healing concepts, this technique appears to work on the electrical system to promote relaxation and healing. You will learn to detect discrepancies in the energy field surrounding the body, which may be an indication of a weakness in the energy flow. Directing this energy can activate the body's healing process. The class will also cover the chakra system, its function, and how it relates to healing the mind, body, and spirit. Auras, or energy fields, will also be discussed. Therapeutic Touch is a form of energy work that is in increasing demand in hospitals across the country.
